If you were rocked to sleep as
a baby to the songs of the Mighty Sparrow, Shadow and David
Rudder chances are you would become a Socababy too. Delia
Carty born to Trinidadian parents grew up in Queens New
York listening to Soca and Calypso music. Her love for music
was so strong that she started to play the clarinet and
flute in elementary school and by age seven joined the school
band. By the time she was in Junior high she had joined
the choir and started composing lyrics for R&B songs.
In her senior year she attended Socarama
this is a huge Concert featuring a number of the International
Soca/Calyso bands held annually in New York and Delia fell
in love with soca all over again. She immediately went home
an composed her first soca tune.
She began college in September 2000 where
she majored in Health Science and even though her main focus
was her studies she kept herself very active in the music
industry. In 2003 she met with Producer Colin Huntley and
produced her first track Sweet Thing featuring well known
musician and singer Jason Lee, she followed it up with another
track on the 24/7 rhythm with producer Kevvy Kev entitled
Secret crush and soon after she worked with well known Producer/song
writer Michelle Williams on Check Me.
In May 2004 Delia graduated with a Bachelors
Degree of Science in Health Science and she is currently
working in pediatrics and music, she is a caring and wonderful
medical attendant from 9 to 5 but after that she is totally
dedicated to her music. She is putting all the thoughts
that work overtime in her head to paper and now she is working
on her first album that will be filled with that groovy
music that has come to be her style but she has also added
some hot vibrant tunes that will keep you moving and jumping.
Delia has many goals that might just be
too much to list but the one thing that they all have in
common, is that she wants to grow musically to, fuse various
music genres and work with many different recording artist.
For Delia music has no boundaries and the sky is the limit
