Sedale
Simei
Sedale
Simei was born on the island of St. Lucia, and from
an early age he developed a special appreciation
for music. His father often entertained him with
steel pan renditions of traditional calypso tunes.
However, due to his academic pursuits, it was not
until his teenage years that he put his love for
music into action. He enjoyed all genres of music,
that he was influenced to become a DJ.
Sedale graduated from the St. Mary’s College
in St. Lucia, and moved to the U.S. to further his
education. While studying Business Administration
at Medgar Evers College in the US he got together
with some friends and started a sound system called
“Infrared Sounds.” This sound became
so popular that it is now one of New York’s
top rated St. Lucian sound systems.

Being
away from his home has triggered an immense amount
of St. Lucian pride, as most of his friends now
refer to him as a, mini ambassador for his country
as he is always willing to share his culture with
everyone that would listen.
Sedale’s innate passion for
soca music resulted in his emergence as a soca artist.
He sites The Mighty Sparrow, Lord Kitchener, De
Invader, De Ashanti, Herb Black, Bunji Garlin, Machel
Montano, Mr. Slaughter, Bounty Killer, Elephant
Man, Tupac, and Biggie as some of his musical influences.
In his quest to become a notable
soca artiste, Sedale teamed up with Trinidadian
Producer Shawn Noel whom along with his wife formed
one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most prominent
and sort after production/management companies-
Mastamind Productions, having worked with some of
the most famous soca artistes including Bunji Garlin,
Shurwayne Winchester, Fay Anne Lyons-Alvarez, Crazy,
Tallpree, Nadia Batson and Bomani.
Throughout the existence of the
company they have garnered some of soca's most prestigious
awards, producjng and composing the music that won
Trinidad and Tobago Soca Monarch titles in 2004
and 2005 and Groovy Soca Monarch in 2006.
With Mastamind’s endorsement,
Sedale is prepared to take the world by storm. But
of course, home is where the heart is. He plans
to make his debut into the Soca Arena during St.
Lucia Carnival 2007, and from there his intentions
are to spread the St. Lucian culture, through his
music, to the world. With this kind of determination
this young man has the drive, the dedication and
the talent to take his musical career and soca music
above and beyond conventional standards.
