Monday March 31st, 2008 – Toronto, ON, Canada - The fifth installment from the Fusion V movement took place inside Solarium on Friday March 28th, 2008. Morgan Model Management, Capital Entertainment and Velvet Bleu cohesively succeeded in presenting a night of innovating fashion and entertainment. The event redefined the meaning of Urban, which the night’s host Drew Dazzle described as, “Everything that is cutting edge and making waves today.”
The show included collections from designers CC, Nathan Dixon, Hungry the Star, Royalz Wear, Nazy Swimwear, Couture Culture, Gloria Lee, Phillip Clarke and Vixen Couture.
Models commanded the runway as Lenny Kravitz’s “American Woman” kicked off the show, showcasing bursts of colour from the CC Spring/Summer collection for 2008. The line flatters a range of female body types, as the tailoring very gracefully accentuated curves and definition.
Collections from Nathan Dixon and Hungry the Star gave a glimpse of what will take over Toronto’s sidewalks this summer. Both designers emphasized the importance of making a line that was not only beautiful, but wearable.
In discussing his line, Dixon explains, “This particular collection is very ‘spring’ in inspiration. It’s very flirty and easy to wear; the colours are bright and cheery but still maintain elegance.” Dixon’s combination of crisp tailored jackets, shrugs and wide leg trousers balanced by light colours and fabrics such as silk and linen highlighted this goal.
Hungry the Star describes, “This line embodies a confident, driven and sexy young woman with an appetite for style that can’t be ruled by trends. Inspired by the aesthetics of all things sweet, this collection features a subtle colour palette, unique cuts, and details that all make for a decadent style recipe.”
Many of the other collections, including Royalz Wear and Keko by Phillip, showcased diversity in presenting styles that can be taken from the street, to a patio, to a roof-top party and highlighted how the trendsetter-on-the-run stays in style.
Entertainment by Comedian Trixx and music from DJ Agile, Babyface, DJ Queen of Spade and others kept the vibe hot as the show took off into after-party fever. Fusion V continued to be successful in shining the spotlight on fashion. More information on past and future shows can be found at www.fusionurbanmeetsvogue.com
