Grand Cayman 'King of Carnival' 2008

Once again Marlon Singh’s ‘Callaloo’, Cedric Gidarsingh & Daryll Singh’s ‘Caribbean Callaloo’ takes the title of Band of the year for CAYMAN ISLANDS 'Batabano' 2008. As Previous winners of 2004,2005 & 2006 (2007 did not compete), The “Callaloo” Family, came out the gates this year with beauty and grace, by dazzling the competition with their portrayal of  “Art of War” designed by Marlon Singh.  With the help of Soca Star “Ghetto Flex” the masqueraders danced their way to victory in true Caribbean style and spirit!

2008 also brought a complete clean sweep for the team as they also claimed the titles of ‘King’ & ‘Queen’ of the Bands, which was designed by (Toronto based) Danzo Balroop.

“We’re not sure if it was the perfect Mas Camp @ “Singh Roti Shop”, the wonderful costumes, design, presentation, the amazing portrayal by our all masquerader’s or maybe the Callaloo vibes? One thing’s for sure, we will be there next year once again defending our title keeping our Caribbean culture alive!” (Marlon Singh)
