REGGAE LOVERS FOR FREEDOM OF SPEECH
Monday June 2nd, 2008 - The reggae community unites to fight gay activists. It is undeniable that reggae music and the overall culture and lifestyle of Jamaicans are being threatened by different gay rights organizations and individuals alike. The most recent attack surfaced in Waterloo Ontario on May 10th where Mr. Vegas was scheduled to perform but could not, as the venue was threatened by gay activists stating that if Vegas perform they will picket the event. Unfortunately, the venue cancelled the show to avoid the unwanted negative attention the establishment would receive had the show gone on.
In an effort to fight these many cancellations and in some cases song withdrawals, Maria Jackson has put a group together called REGGAE LOVERS FOR FREEDOM OF SPEECH. The purpose of the group is to investigate and challenge these gay activists as oppose to simply giving in to their every requests.
The group which currently has members hailing from different parts of the world is open to the public and does invite any and everyone who believes that reggae is being unfairly targeted to join the fight. In order to join the group one simply has to email their name and contact information to mj@mariajackson.ca placing REGGAE LOVERS FOR FREEDOM OF SPEECH in the subject line.
Maria and other members of the group are determined to stop what they consider racial attacks against Jamaicans. The group is currently having conversations with Jamaican icon Muta baruka and reggae icon Buju Banton regarding their individual endorsement of the organization.
Group leaders have announced that they are in communication with a civil attorney who has so far advice them that a lot of the promoters who have had their shows cancelled in the last minute, can actually take their case to court as they can be compensated for monies lost. Promoters wanting more information about these findings should contact Maria Jackson ASAP.
