Family Culture and Lifestyle Show 2008 slated for June 28
TORONTO – On Saturday, June 28, 2008, Black Woman and Child magazine
presents its annual Family Culture and Lifestyle Show in Toronto. Now in its
second year, FCLStyle is an interactive family event, featuring great
shopping, workshops and discussions, entertainment, activities for kids and
fun for the whole family.
FCLStyle 2008 promises to be even more exciting than the first. The program
features special guest Niambi Jaha-Echols, a Chicago-based motivational
speaker and author of "Project Butterfly: Supporting Young Women and Girls
of African Descent through the Transitions of Life." At the event, Niambi
will be facilitating a special workshop for teen girls aged 13 to 17. Other
activities include fitness and dance demonstrations, drumming, a
self-employment workshop, a midwife and doulas question/answer period, the
ever-popular fatherhood cipher session, scrapbook workshops as well as
Games Central, featuring an Oware Challenge (also known as "warri," the
national game of Antigua). Come out to network with parents and other
experts in family life, visit with exhibitors, win great prizes and more.
Prizes and activities are also being sponsored by For the People Canada,
Balance Enterprise, the Motivated Moms Club, and MACPRI, to name a few.
The event isn't just for adults – free child-minding services are available
to parents on-site as part of the Mwanadongo Children's Village, where fun
and engaging activities for children will run all day. The event will wrap
up with Black Woman and Child's signature "FamJam," a family-friendly dance
segment where participants can enjoy the best of old school music spun by a
live DJ, and show off their best moves with other adults and children too.
The Family Culture and Lifestyle Show 2008 is in the spacious Tropicana
Coummunity Services, 670 Progress Avenue, Unit 14 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
on Saturday, June 28, 2008. There is lots of free parking and it is TTC
