Haute-couture event, Fashion Has No Borders™, to hit the Toronto runway this summer
Toronto – June 18, 2008:
Fashion Has No Borders™ (FHNB) is adding a flare to this summer’s runway. Bringing together celebrities, designers, entertainers and fashion elite, FHNB™ is an explosion of international and local design. The cross-cultural collection will be revealed on July 25, 2008 in the ballroom of Palais Royale.
Fashion Television’s Jeanne Beker will be hosting the evening with musical performances by Jarvis Church. Featured designers include Heather Jones (Erykah Bahu, Heather Headley), Earl Turner of Biggy Designs (Maxi Priest, Beenie Man, the Marley family), Francis Hendy (P Diddy, Missy Elliot, Terrence Howard), David Andre, Patricia Coates, Pat Blackman of PERLIZIN and Kestin Cornwall.
This year, FHNB™ has taken on a Caribbean theme. The show will highlight the vibrantly coloured collections from featured designers, making it the largest showcase of Caribbean inspired fashion in North America. FHNB™ brings together talented designers from Canada, New York and the Caribbean, celebrating the confluence of cultures in Toronto and the city’s burgeoning fashion industry.
“This is a really unique opportunity. It's rare to be able to work in one city and have people coming from such a diverse range of cultures. We normally consider New York as a place that brings together a diverse combination of people and collections, but Toronto is very fortunate to be in a similar situation," said Sharon Cornwall, senior partner and managing director of FHNB™.
Working alongside two notable charities, FHNB™ will support children in need both at home and around the globe.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Sick Kids Foundation and Watoto Canada – an organization that assists children in Uganda and East Africa.
FHNB™ is an internationally focused company that has partnered with several Caribbean countries, as well as Canadian-Caribbean fashion businesses, to act as a bridge to important world markets. FHNB™ creates high profile and international platforms for established and emerging fashion designers.
