KES rocks ASCAP Expo

KES preparing at ASCAP Expo in LA
Los Angeles, California - Kes was one of 8 acts selected to perform at the ASCAP Showcase that took place at the renowned Renaissance Hotel, in Hollywood on Friday 24th April. Performing fourth, Kees alongside brother Jon on guitars and Riad on Bass performed two selections for the packed crowd, a reggae influenced track called “Come a Little Closer”, and a brand new song yet to be officially released called “Stalker (More of Me)”. “The reaction was incredible” says Kees Dieffenthaller, “we know we have some great songs, but the other performers were so different to us that we were a little worried at first. There was a full on rock band, then a couple acoustic singers, then comes us with our Caribbean Flavour” he laughs. “As it turns out, as we got off the stage, people were cheering and rushed us for CD’s and Business Cards, we made some great contacts and had some amazing feedback from top executives.”
ASCAP hosted its music conference over the period April 23rd through to the 25th. Amongst those there to offer advice were: Wyclef Jean, Natasha Bedingfield, Ryan Tedder (lead singer for One Republic), Ron Fair of Geffen Records and Desmond Child (songwriter: “Dude Looks Like A Lady”; La Vida Loca” plus hundreds more). Kees wrote with Child and has a track on American Idol contestant ACE YOUNG’s debut album.
Other than rocking out the ASCAP Showcase, Kees also cut two tracks with Hip Hop Artiste Bishop Lamont. Lamont is signed to Dr Dre’s label AFTERMATH and is due to release his debut album later this year.
Whats next for Kes the Band?
“We are in the process of getting scripts done for three music videos for new songs on our album, “Till The Morning”, “Stalker” and “My Girl”, so that is going to have us real busy”. These songs are from their recently released album “On in 5”. The album is available locally in stores nationwide and also it is now available for the first time on www.itunes.com, www.cdbaby.com as well as the locally run www.trinidadmusicstore.com. Upcoming plans include performances coming up in New York – Kees is performing at Pan Jazz alongside Arturo Toppin and other guests, and then heading to Toronto.
