Camp Jumoke celebrates its 15th Anniversary Turtle Walk-a-thon on May 30
(Toronto. ON) On Saturday, May 30th, 2009 Camp Jumoke will celebrate its 15th Anniversary Turtle Walk-a-thon, a fundraising initiative for children living with the Sickle Cell Disease at Nathan Philip Square. For fifteen years the not-for-profit organization has raised funds for children living with the Sickle Cell Disease to attend two weeks of summer camp.
The fun filled afternoon will consist of food, prizes and great entertainment, hosted by Nathan Downer of CP24 with performances by some of Canada’s top performers including Juno Award Nominee Belinda Brady, Manchilde, Hilary Weaver, Saidah Cox, Joy Foster, Jacqueline John and many more.
The theme this year is ‘Unity is Togetherness’ for all that has been achieved with the support of the community – together.
Join in the cause to conquer the Sickle Cell Disease and walk one turtle step at time to achieve the fundraising goal of $40,000 as well to educate on the awareness of this disease that affects so many children.
Walkers and participants are encouraged to pre-register your team for the walk as there will be prizes to the top fundraising group, individual and the individual who brings the most walkers. Registration for the walk commences at 10:00 am, the walk opening ceremonies at 11:00 am and the 5 km walk begins at 12:00 pm
