RAWSHUS Riddim Causes A Stir For Antigua’s Carnival
St. John’s, Antigua... RAWSHUS-ness is taking over! In the midst, of the heat and the high energy of Antigua’s Carnival season, MaddLabb Studios caused a stir with its much talked about RAWSHUS riddim. Producers, Deejay Charlie and Hugo “Mbutu” Augustine, expanded the fast paced jump up riddim to include tracks by Trinidad’s soca sweet heart, Esther "Sstar” Dyer and Atlanta’s Cruzhal.
Since the initial release of the riddim on July 20, 2009, the RAWSHUS Revolution has grown steadily and grabbed the attention of industry players and soca fans globally. With a grassroots marketing approach and the expertise of PR consultants, Estuary Public Relations, RAWSHUS artists are ranked number one among Antiguan artists on popular internet music marketing tool, ReverbNation. On Facebook, the RAWSHUS group has attracted an average of forty new members daily from across the Caribbean region, Canada, the UK, the USA and South America.
The RAWSHUS creator and first ever Heineken Green Synergy winner, Deejay Charlie, has set a goal to release 100 songs on the riddim. “My vision is to establish this as the ‘We Are The World’ of soca. We are set to take RAWSHUS-ness to the world,” shared the prominent DJ. MaddLabb’s latest releases feature the strong vocals of Dyer in No Sense and the harmonic melodies of one of Atlanta’s leading vocalists, Cruzhal in It’s Carnival. Earlier releases feature tracks from some of the Caribbean’s most promising talent including Move by Mac Truc, Never Stop by Promise, Jump Up by Fucha Kid and Magical Bumper by Kenne Blessin.
Throughtout Antigua’s Carnival celebrations, the RAWSHUS artists enjoyed a high profile with media appearances on Gem Radio, Observer Radio, SUN FM, Vybz FM and ABS TV, as well as live performances at Digicel’s Jam Session and the annual LIAT Melting Pot fete.
