The party is slated for Labor Day Saturday night September 5th 2009 in Brooklyn New York, at the Aviator Sports and Recreation Ballroom. This is a fully air-conditioned indoor facility which is a new venue for events of this type and caliber. The Aviator Sports and Recreation facility is located at the Floyd Bennett Field, Hanger 5, 3159 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11234; Just South of Belt Parkway, Exit 11S.
This event is intended to be a pure Vincy party featuring some of the top performers out of St. Vincent. The show features a spectacular line-up that includes Becket, Scorcher, Skinny Fabulous, Problem Child, Fryktion, Parry Jack, Lively, Zola, Icon, and Gideon James among others backed by the Hottsand band featuring Adrian Bailey - Special guest appearances by Jakie, Fabulous T, Ras X, and Curtis-C. The show will also feature four prominent DJs; Hailes Castello, Yung Hova, and EZ Sounds based in New York, along with 2 Kool Chris out of SVG. The promoters have established exclusivity for all artistes performing on this show. This arrangement ensures that the artistes only appear at this single event and avoids the confusion and misinformation that have plagued these types of events in the past.
The stated mission of the group hosting the events is to return the annual Vincentian Labor Day weekend Saturday night celebration, which has historically been a fixture and hallmark of the weekend activities, back to the standard it once was. The New York Labor Day weekend events are by far the largest gathering for Vincentians in the US and facilitate the coming together of Vincentians as a people to renew friendships and celebrate our culture and heritage.
The Aviator Sports and Recreation facility is An Official Concessionaire of the US National Park Service and as such is fully secured, licensed and permitted by law to host these types of events. The entertainment hall\sports bar can accommodate over fifteen hundred (1500) patrons comfortably. This is couple with free parking lots that can facilitate several thousands vehicles. This is a first class facility that will provide a comfortable and impressive atmosphere to entertainers and patrons alike. The whole idea and stated objective of the organizers, is to provide the artistes and party lovers with a venue that is sophisticated and spacious, with proper sound, stage, lighting and most importantly, first-rate security for them to have an unforgettable happy night out without any interruptions. This has been lacking for some time and the goal is to return this event back to, and even exceed, the standards it once was – this includes a special permit to extend the regular 4:30AM closure to 5:30AM. Vincentians artistes and patrons should be valued and provided the same level of respect through quality service that other nationalities are accustomed to in the entertainment arena. Vincy soca has been the best in class for some time now and the artistes should always be given a quality stage to showcase their amazing talents. This venue will certainly play a major role in doing so in years to come.
In an extraordinary effort to ensure that everyone wishing to attend the event is able to, the organizers have arranged transportation to take patrons to and from the event venue. Transportation will be available from three locations in Brooklyn; Church Avenue/East 95th Street, from Utica Avenue/Eastern Parkway, and also from Church Avenue/Utica Avenue between 11PM and 1AM to take patrons to the show. Transportation will also be provided back to the fore mentioned locations.
Annual Labor Day Blanc sur Blanc (All White) Midnight Boat Cruise) - Sunday Night, September 6th 2009, 11:30PM – 5AM.
The Saturday Night party will be followed by a 'Midnight Boatride' (Blanc sur Blanc - All White) on Sunday Night, September 6th 2009, 11:30PM – 5AM. This is also an annual event and will be aboard the Atlantica, a luxury cruise line that specializes in hosting boat cruises in the NY area.
