KES Selected for Independent Music Awards Spotlight
Kes the Band’s latest release “Stalker” is garnering lots of attention! The song was recently submitted to the Independent Music Awards and the band has since been selected to be one of IMA’s Spotlighted bands.
The Independent Music Awards is an avenue for signed and unsigned artists to reach new audiences and gain recognition for their work. The categories include: Best Song (in different genres); Best Video; Best Album; and also areas of multimedia such as best concert photography, Album Art and Web site.
The judges for these awards include the editor from Rolling Stone Magazine, Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy, Mark Hoppus from Blink 182, Ricky Skaggs, Sugarcult and representatives from record labels and festivals such as Vans Warped Tour,
The IMA’s Spotlight section focuses on different bands and artistes who have entered various areas of the Awards. It gives them the chance to be seen and heard. Kes the Band is “very honored to be a part of this and to have the opportunity to be featured amongst many talented musicians”. Stalker (More of Me) is on the bands latest album “On in 5”. The album has been selling out in stores in Trinidad and is also available on all major internet sites including Itunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and Trinidad’s own local network www.trinidadtunes.com. Just search KES THE BAND and you will find what your looking for.
The song was written by Kes the Band, and produced by Precision Productions (Kasey Phillips and Nikholai Greene). The music video was shot in May 2009 and was directed by Ty Hodges with cinematography by Eric Curtis and Sheldon Felix. The song has also been making its way around the Clear Channel Networks internet radio sites and has been on Miami’s Y100 Unsigned Charts top 10 for the last 4 weeks.
The band still has two videos to be released from their album. The songs are“Till the Morning” and “My Girl”.
What’s next?
The band is currently writing and recording new music, some for carnival but mainly for year round airplay. Kes is also performing in October in Miami at the Scruples Blocko Event. This takes place on Friday 9th October and is the ONLY Place to see Kes for Miami Carnival! They also have a heavy schedule upon return with Corporate functions and carnival bookings!
