Daily Mail
Bombay Dreams is a terrific show: a big
silky, sensual show, lush and lavish and extravagantly
colourful.
Sunday Times
Brings a breath of India, a new sound, new choreography,
a whole new style and vibrancy.
It's as exotic and enticing as one's first taste of curry.
The Mail
Toronto, Ontario, Canada – The lavish international
musical, Bombay Dreams makes its only Canadian stop at
the Hummingbird Centre for the Performing Arts for EIGHT
performances from August 16 – 20, 2006.
Bombay Dreams combines the glamour of
the movies, heart-aching romance and epic spectacle. It
tells the story of Akaash, a young, handsome actor who
dreams of becoming a huge movie star and of his fateful
encounter with beautiful Priya, the daughter of one of
Bollywood's greatest film directors. Can he achieve his
dream of stardom or will this come at a price? Will Akaash
and Priya's love survive? Will they find, like in all
the best Bollywood movies, their happy ending?
Stunningly conceived with a spell-binding score by the
phenomenal Indian composer A.R. Rahman and lyrics by Don
Black, Bombay Dreams is a unique fusion of talent from
the worlds of stage, film, TV and contemporary music.
Add to this, lush production design and spectacular choreography.
Bombay Dreams is a theatrical event that is both breathtaking
and totally ‘unmissable.’
Bombay Dreams features music by
A. R. Rahman, lyrics by Don Black,
book by Meera Syal and Thomas
Meehan. The show premiered in London’s
West End in 2002 and followed with a Broadway run in 2004.
The creative staff for Bombay Dreams
includes director Baayork Lee, musical
director Kevin Farrell, Canadian choreographer
Lisa Stevens, and scenic designer Kenneth
Foy.
