'Doh Cry Ah Leavin' SOLD OUT in Under 4 hours.

For the very first time, discounted pre-purchase tickets were made available over the weekend for Toronto's most popular pre-carnival fete, Dr JAY's "DOH CRY AH LEAVIN". All 1100 tickets offered were sold out in under 4 hours. Ticket outlets reported significantly heavy traffic and phone calls to their locations, with several patrons requesting up to 50 tickets at a time. Some speculate ticket scalpers may be seeking to turn a quick profit from the highly anticipated event.

"1100 tickets in less than 4 hours? For an event that's four weeks away? Who knows what will happen this weekend when the second batch of tickets go on sale" exclaimed the friendly doctor! The huge rush came as a surprise to FLOW 93.5's Soca Prince who received multiple phone calls and text messages while being away in England for the weekend. "I was very surprised. If I didn't physically put all the tickets in the outlets myself, I would probably question it too. This kind of stuff happens when U2 comes to town. Not for a soca fete. It's unheard of!" Now, in it's 11th year, the event is expected to be sold out in record time and could very well be the biggest and best DCAL to date.

Dubbed as "The MUST ATTEND event before Trinidad’s Carnival", Dr JAY's annual "DOH CRY AH LEAVIN" has been sold out every year since it's inception in 1996. The inaugural fete took place at a small venue called Farmstead, and as the Prince of Soca remembers it, "that was one sweet fete." When was asked what makes 'DCAL' so special to the hundreds that attend the event every year and himself, Jay replied "Maybe its because it’s my last fete in Toronto for over a month. Maybe it’s because in the middle of the cold winter, there is a big fete that everyone knows will not disappoint. Honestly, I don't know the reason. There is a certain intangible that makes DCAL a resounding success every single year."

The doctor went on to explain how the idea for the fete came about: Explainer's 1982 classic 'Lorraine' was the initial inspiration for the name of the event. "Explainer's composition is still one of my favourite tracks of all time. I was heading off to Trinidad for Carnival and it just seemed like the perfect fit. 'Lorraine' embodies everything that I love about Carnival and it just seemed so obvious to have a 'last lap' before heading off to Trinidad. Back then, no one had ever done that before in Toronto"

When asked which of the past 10 DCAL events was most memorable, he replied, "Last year's 10th Anniversary of Doh Cry Ah Leavin' was something extra-special for me, as I brought it full-circle. Ernest from d'Outlaws (who was on the very first DCAL) was one of the guest DJ's and the surprise performer was none other than Explainer. To have the artist who wrote and recorded the song that inspired the fete, to have Explainer come and perform at the 10th Anniversary was incredible and will be one of my personal highlights for many years to come."

"DOH CRY AH LEAVIN XI" is carded for Saturday February 11th and the entire cast of the KOS will be in attendance, along with Toronto Soca artists 'Farm P' and 'Slammer Cutter', plus an international Soca artist which the doctor insists on keep anonymous for the time being.
