JAMAICANS.COM ANNUAL TOY DRIVE
CHRISTMAS CHEER FOR CHILDREN LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS IN JAMAICA
Hollywood , FL, November 1, 2007: Jamaicans.com once again partners with the Florida based non profit organization, Eye on Jamaica Project, to host their fifth annual Internet Toy Drive during the holiday season for children living with HIV/AIDS in Jamaica. Their mission is to bring joy and toys to children living at AIDS hospices: Matthew 25:40, Dare To Care and Martha's Place. This year duo, teams up with Jamaican based non profit organization, ChiChiBud LTD to assist with distribution.
"With the enormous success of last year's toy drive," said founder and owner of the award winning website, Jamaicans.com, "Our goals are being realized with the willingness of local communities groups like ChiChiBud participation."
Mr. Murphy, in his response to why these three hospices were specifically selected said, "These organizations lovingly care for children living with HIV and AIDS." He further explained that these children are regrettably shunned by society and in many cases their relatives as well. Jamaicans.com hope that through their commitment to hosting their annual toy drive, that their efforts will yield positive results not only to the children, but will further increase HIV/AIDS awareness, ultimately improving Jamaicans' attitude towards people living with HIV/AIDS.
"Our mission is to instill hope, acceptance and purpose in these children's lives," said Murphy passionately. "These children…our children should grow up knowing that they have a bright future ahead. Their dreams are our dreams for them."
Ronald Thomas, CEO and President of Eye On Jamaica emphatically agrees with Murphy. Mr. Thomas was also eager to underscore the importance of nurturing these children against the backdrop of an environment that is slow to embrace them, insisting that it is never to late for change.
"At the end of the day, the children also need a sense of normalcy," said Thomas. "Toys bring joy to children and we are honored to be apart of this project."
The drive began on November 1st, 2007 on the Jamaicans.com website and will end November 30th, 2007. The toys will be transported to Jamaica with the help of Food For the Poor, Inc. who willing jumped at the opportunity to be apart of this note worthy cause.
