"KAISO! KAISO!" OCPA presents a Calypso
Tents Music Series in Toronto
Toronto,
June 4, 2007 -- It's "KAISO! KAISO!" when
the Organization of Calypso Performing Artistes presents
a Calypso Tents Music Series in Toronto that runs from
Friday June 15 for five weekends! Three calypso tents
will bring you exciting new music for the CARIBANA festival.
On
June 15th Calypso Vanguard Tent will fly high at 7:30
p.m. at Lula Lounge 1585 Dundas St. West and continue
on Friday June 22nd and 29th at the Trane Studio, 964
Bathurst St., Toronto. Performers are Victorio, Mon-T-Hama,
Naki, Osaze Dolabaille, Michelle Parsons, King Smokey,
Jay Williams, Rajiman, and others, backed by Jeremy Ledbetter
& the Kaiso Vanguard Orchestra.

The
Professionals Calypso Tent will rock the Steelworkers
Union Hall, 25 Cecil St. downtown Toronto every Saturday
June 16th at 8pm for five nights featuring Macomere Fifi,
Dick Lochan, Drew Gonsalves, Bill "The Crooner"
Newman, Jayson, Villaz, Panman Pat, and others, backed
by Oswald James and the Soca Bunch.

The
Organization of Calypso Performing Artistes (OCPA) is
a non-profit arts organization founded in 1981 to promote
the calypso art form in all its diversity: storytelling,
social and political commentary, and comedy in song, to
create opportunities to compose, perform and record calypso,
and to facilitate calypso music's growth and development.
OCPA presents a year-round programme of activities that
include workshops,seminars, awards shows, concerts and
special events featuring Canadian and international calypso
and soca artists.
The
2007 summer programme culminates with the exciting Calypso
Monarch
Competition
that will be held at the Toronto Centre for the Arts on
Saturday, July 28th.
