Trinidad Silver Stars Steel Orchestra showcases Parang and Steel

ENTERTAINER Kenny J (Kenneth Joseph) continues to thrill patrons where ever he performs, with his delectable Christmas selections.
Saturday night’s (Nov 24) presentation of Parang and Steel staged by the Silver Stars Steel Orchestra was another example of this local entertainer’s prowess.
The casts for the night included Los Buenos Parranderos and the host steel orchestra.
Delivering an infectious repertoire –which many consider to be a manual of naughty and nice things to do during the Christmas season –Kenny J, it seems, caused patrons to release their inhibitions when he offered original hits such as Paint Brush, Alexander (Ah Lick), Hush Your Mouth and How Long It Is.
When DJ Remix, Silver Stars’ resident sound technician and co-master of ceremonies announced Kenny J’s arrival at the Tragarete Road, Newtown panyard, an added aura of excitement filled the venue.
Immediately, his fans began requesting songs which they felt were best suited to commence his performance. Judging from Kenny J’s broad smile and hearty-laughs, he could not have received a better welcome.
The weekend showcase by Silver Stars’ was the second instalment of its consecutive five-week yuletide entertainment package known as Parang and Steel.
Managing Panorama preparation and Parang and Steel simultaneously has not impeded Silver Stars’ quality music offerings as witnessed so far in the concert series.
The reigning Pan In the 21st Century champion charmed patrons with its winning tune-of-choice from that contest back in April, titled Phantom of the Opera. Maestro’s (Cecil Hume) Goal was another riveting number performed by Silver Stars to the audience’s visible delight.
Los Buenos Parranderos complemented the former entertainers with its smooth treatment of parang melodies.
Solamente Una Vez, Clara, Guantanamera and Milagro were among the selections contained in its enlivening song list.
